Good design knows no borders

In our global world today, as a creative and with the internet/devices at our fingertips, it is on us to expose ourselves and learn from everyone and from everywhere!

Do you know who Enric Crous-Vidal is?

Crous-Vidal

If you would have joined me at this online presentation given by the Herb Lubalin Type Study Center & Type@Cooper on Feb. 28/22, you would have also learned all about this fascinating designer.

Crous-Vidal was born in Lerida, Spain (1908) but moved to Paris during the Spanish Civil War and worked there. You can see from the following posters which was a very common printed expression of beautiful design and marketing, a unique interpretation of type, colour and layout, from todays predominantly clean solutions.

Andreu Balius was the presenter for this ‘episode’ and here too, I learned of him, a Barcelona based designer and typographer.

I know that my exposure to both these designers and the different times and cultures from whence they come, only serve to expand my interpretation of how I will approach the next project challenge with which I am tasked.

These are just 2 new designers whom I have learnt about, there are many. So I challenge you to do the same. Design diversity does not start with being told to do it nor to be aware of it. It starts from being curious, always. These past 2 years have opened me up to so many opportunities, my calendar is filled. A silver lining to this past episode in the global world’s tragic pandemic event.

Listen, look, ask and then design.
